So for Installation Class I lucked out with the group I was paired with. We were kinda awesome and made this piece entitled "Curio." The concept was to bring art to the public and a curiosity for art to an audience outside of our college of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. The event took place in the student center of UC where the large porcelain apple was placed under glass and behind stanchions and velvet rope (All hand made might I add). There were smaller apples given away as souvenirs and posters made to advertise the event (again all hand- made). The apple was used because it is a very well known object and is a symbol for many different things in our society, therefore allowing a broader audience for interpretation. When taking down the piece, the group discovered our large apple to be missing and a ransom note in its place. We enjoyed the thought of the interaction with our project and were glad that the public was not afraid to make their own interpretation of the work and act on it.
So legit. Did you guys ever figure out who stole the apple? My money was on Brent and Rodney and that it was in the pinata.
